Local property developers behind Roost People buy Gensing Manor

With great sadness and disappointment, we learnt that Gensing Manor had been purchased. Perhaps it was all the singing and dancing of the campaign around GM that drew moneyed property developers to it, or perhaps they had had the building in their sights all along. Either way it's a great shame. The people behind Roost have bought up numerous properties over the years, and rent out a lot of them back to the council for temporary accommodation. This has become increasingly profitable as so many people in recent years have been served evictions by their landlords, and consequently, faced homelessness.

What Gensing Manor could have been was wonderful affordable community housing with a shared work and event space and community kitchen, with food growing around the grounds. It could have been a real community beacon in the area for people to come together. We do not see this sort of thing happening with it's new owners.
