We've all walked past this big old house several times and imagined it put to some sort of community use. We arranged for a viewing with a couple of friends, a building contractor and a structural engineer. It's estimated on top of the 1.5mil asking price, the building would need the same amount again to bring it into good repair. The building was leased on a peppercorn rent and then sold off by HBC for £35,000.00 a few years ago. It's eye wateringly painful to hear of so many cheap sales to private buyers seeking to profiteer. These types of sales would aid creation of coops which would save the council money in the long term by housing people more securely. It's ambitious but we will try. Buckle up for more fundraising.
